About Katie + True

Why ‘True’? True to me means to be authentic and real, and to also be tried-and-true in my treatment approach.

Hello, I’m Katie Waller; a Clinical Psychologist passionate about providing in depth care for those suffering with symptoms of trauma, OCD, and anxiety disorders.

Welcome to my practice, where I am dedicated to equipping you to manage your mental health, guide you to the tools that work, and support you through life’s challenges. Many of the people I have worked with had been struggling for many years before they decided to seek help, so I understand that some of the concerns you bring to our appointments may now be affecting many areas of your life, but the truth is that no one is too far gone. Everyday I see what can be achieved when someone is truly ready to make a change and get to the core of their issues.

I have been seeing clients in the field of psychology for ten years now, and it has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I hold an Honours and Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, and then went on to pursue an additional two years of training in practice and research to become an endorsed Clinical Psychologist. Since then, I have continually trained in emerging and established therapies to provide my clients an expert and tailored service.

My passion areas are in anxiety and co-occurring disorders (you can learn more about these under the ‘Conditions We Treat’ tab) and over the years I have doubled-down in learning as many different ways to combat them as possible. Whether your concerns are rooted in past trauma, negative life events, or ongoing symptoms that seem to have just stuck with you; I’m here to help.

I work with you to listen to your story, come to a collaborative understanding of what might be maintaining your concerns, and then we work together to learn new ways of coping or reducing the impact of past events. I am trained in a number of different therapy tools and techniques like EMDR, cognitive-behavioural therapy, exposure and response prevention, and mindfulness, that I tailor to what will suit your unique concerns (read more here). My academic journey has been enriched by extensive training and involvement in research, including my own publications.

Outside the office, I'm just your average person. I love a good cup of coffee, long walks with my dogs, and I firmly believe that a little laughter and support on your side can go a long way when times get tough.

So, whether you're dealing with stress, anxiety, or just need someone to chat with, I'm here to lend an ear and share some down-to-earth advice. Your journey to a more fulfilling, anxiety-free life begins here.

I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and healing, and I'm here to walk that path with you. With over a decade of experience as a Clinical psychologist, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals, each with their unique stories and strengths.
